MUNCH launches a new online series to explore the problems being solved with crypto and decentralization in the next wave of Web3.

Key info:

Degens Gone Charity is a Twitter Spaces series to discuss industry-wide topics with different projects over the next twelve months.

Join the first session on May 3rd, Tuesday 8 PM UTC with 20 Seachain NFT Whitelistspots up for grabs for the best 10 Twitter Questions + 10 Live questions. Learn more here.

Behind the story:

The crypto industry needs to move beyond proof of concept. While decentralized, community-owned projects have the potential to change the world, the next stage of this evolution needs to establish enough utility, adoption, ease of use, and practical benefits to incentivize people to change their habits. Habits and views formed by deeply ingrained financial, social, and cultural practices.

Simply put, decentralization needs to explore adoption not only fueled by speculation on crypto as an asset class. One such area where this utility has been built is for charitable donations and programmable wealth distribution.

Crypto presents a huge amount of practical advantages in this sector. With programmable functions, trustless automation, and immutable ledgers, crypto has made giving back a reflex, possible to add to almost any point of transaction.

Removing user work, uncertainty, and having publicly traceable streams of funding, crypto projects can remove a lot of the psychological barriers that prevent people from donating their funds.

Introducing Degens Gone Charity

To explore this development and the biggest ideas in the space, the core MUNCH team will host a new series, exploring how crypto projects can be a force for good when it comes to charity.

Crypto projects such as MUNCH are already creating a better way to distribute assets to people in need, give people equitable access to financial services, and help community-owned ideas and projects raise funds in unbanked areas.

In this series, ideas will be discussed with leading projects in the space, on how decentralized projects can enact genuine change and help improve people's lives.

MUNCH x Seachain

In the first Degens Gone Charity, Rodrigo and Pete from the MUNCH team will be joined by the SeaChain project to discuss ways to implement lasting donation models in decentralized projects.

SeaChain is focused on an immediate solution to the plastic crisis by funding river barriers. They have a long term aim to develop a green-blockchain network that offers solutions for the plastic economy, such as tracking plastic waste, verifying the authenticity of recycled materials and measuring impact for the awarding of plastic credits.

SeaChain aspires to be used as a digital currency, not just as an investment vehicle and store of value, but also as a medium of exchange for purchasing goods and services. As a result, they are developing 4 main milestones to increase their utility: An online store through which SeaChain and other cryptocurrency projects can sell merchandise; a digital collectible trading card game; a cryptocurrency credit card; and a blockchain for supply chain management.

MUNCH is a project entering its second phase of development. After a launch that proved the appeal of the concept, the MUNCH project is building need and desire for the project to fuel the concept. We are exploring options to also expand the reach and scope of the MUNCH native token so there will be synergies to explore between both projects.
