A nonprofit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries.
Every $1 of donated funds translates to roughly 1,100 liters of clean water — enough water to supply 1 family with clean water for 12.5 days.
The world is in a water crisis. 785 million people on the planet don’t have access to clean and safe drinking water. That’s almost 1 in 10 people worldwide. Diseases from dirty water kill more people every year than any form of violence, including war. Around 297,000 children under 5 die every year from preventable diseases caused by either a lack of water or sanitation.
Then beyond the direct deaths, any difficulty in accessing this basic human right affects every other facet of human existence, from quality of life to any opportunity for growth and development. Water affects everything.
But hope is there. The problem is big but it is solvable. Through projects like charity: water, it will be possible to bring clean, safe water to people in a sustainable way.
Providing access to clean water does more than stop preventable deaths. It can revolutionize communities. Providing access to clean water can improve health, boost local economies, and empower people. Reliable water sources help start a longer process of development, it helps people start to access education, improve agriculture, sanitation, and better healthcare.
Once communities are able to solve the all-encompassing crisis that comes from a lack of access to water, other benefits begin to flourish like a wellspring. Water changes everything.
Who are charity: water?
charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries. Founded in 2006, they have one ambitious goal: to end the global water crisis by partnering with local organizations around the world to implement sustainable, community-led water projects.
Since their inception, charity: water has now funded 64,999 water projects, across 29 countries, helping over 12 million people gain access to clean water. The charity works with local organizations to provide ongoing, sustainable access to clean sources of water. They do this by partnering with local organizations on projects to build lasting access that can be utilized by entire communities.
One recent project used water to help change the futures of kids in rural Nepal. In a study from charity: water, Tyler Riewer explains the impact each project can have.
‘It was hard to stay healthy enough to attend school regularly. Because they didn’t have access to clean water, families had to rely on rivers and ponds for things like drinking, cooking, and bathing.-
In 2013, the local partner, Nepal Water for Health (NEWAH), built a gravity-fed piped water system that gathered natural spring water from surrounding mountains and delivered it down to stands located throughout the community.
The change was sudden and impactful. The local medical clinic went from seeing 700 patients per month down to around 60. Cases of diarrhea, caused by contaminated water dropped from a high of more than 6,000 per year to under 200.
This is just one example of the work done at charity: water and the ripple effect the impact of clean water has on communities. To date, charity: water has completed around 65,000 similar projects which you read more about here.
A radically transparent model
charity: water operates in a unique way when compared with many other charities. All operational costs of charity: water are funded by a group of private donors, known as ‘The Well’. This means that 100% of all public donations to charity: water go straight to the field to fund clean water projects and every project is ratified with photos and GPS coordinates for full transparency. This is also an unprecedented level of accountability.
As public donations, this means every dollar donated by the MUNCH community will go directly to bringing water to people and communities in need.
charity: water is registered as Charity Global, Inc., a US 501 ©(3) public charity, EIN 22–3936753 and an ANBI in the Netherlands, RSIN 826151656 . Charity Global UK Limited is a dual-qualified charity registered in England and Wales, charity number 1169228. Charity Global UK Limited is wholly owned by Charity Global, Inc.

How can MUNCH help?
As always, if selected by the community the charitable donation collected from MUNCH transactions will be diverted directly to charity: water’s public crypto donation wallet for a two-week period.
These funds will be used as all public donations are, to help provide access to clean water to as many people as possible. The MUNCH community donations will have a real impact on this mission.
On average, it costs $40 to bring clean water to one person and $10,000 to fund a water project for an entire community. Every $1 of donated funds translates to roughly 1,100 liters of clean water — enough water to supply 1 family with clean water for 12.5 days.
Donations from the MUNCH community will help this important and extremely effective continue to do their vital work, bringing the most essential human need to everyone.
In addition, The MUNCH community will receive reporting over an 18–21 month period ultimately culminating in a completion report with photos, GPS coordinates, and the exact number of beneficiaries.
You can read a breakdown of the reporting timeline of other projects here. If the MUNCH community selects charity: water, a donation of $100K or more, would mean that MUNCH will become an official brand partner and receive recognition on the partnerships page as well as our social channels.
