Empowering hospitalized families through play
Charity donations are often focused on causes with the most significant direct impact. This makes sense. People want their money to have the greatest possible effect. But, what this can lead to is an unbalanced concentration of funds in certain causes.
The reality is providing care is a spectrum. Organizations and people at the human level can often struggle to capture as much attention when it comes to generating donations, but individual, personal interactions can have a remarkable impact on people’s lives.
One such issue that caught our attention is that children suffering from illnesses are not just facing the most difficult start to life imaginable, they are not able to experience the usual elements of childhood. In a life dominated by hospitals and procedures, effective care relies on also providing some fun.
Gamers Outreach is a charity that empowers hospitalized families through play. Their goal is to build a world where activity is utilized as part of care. Video games are their tools of choice. Their goal is to ensure every hospital is able to provide kids with activities to add some fun and normalcy alongside their care.
MUNCH offers a way to help support causes that represent one element of how we provide care. While smaller charities face constant pressure to fundraise, the support from the MUNCH community can accelerate their targets and enable them to enact their mission.
Who are Gamers outreach?
Gamers Outreach is a for-purpose organization that offers a sense of joy and normalcy in the lives of hospitalized children. Through video game equipment and volunteers, Gamers Outreach provided kids with activities alongside care.They focus on delivering programs to enable play and encourage joyful interaction.

Gamers outreach is incorporated within the state of Michigan and recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization.
The oversight of Gamers Outreach financial activity is provided by a Board of Directors as well as a third party public accounting firm, which validates internal/external reporting for transparency and accuracy.
How can MUNCH support them?
As always, if selected, all donations from MUNCH transaction fees, staking rewards, and Charity Circle donations will be routed automatically and trustlessly directly to the charity. MUNCH is never in custody of the funds and the charity receives 100% of donations allotted to them.
How will these donations be used?
Donations provided to Gamers outreach will be used to fund portable video game kiosks, known as ‘Go-karts’. These kiosks allow hospital staff to transport games and entertainment to patients that are confined to bed or immobile for long periods. At a time when hospitalization can be lonely and isolated, these resources offer a source of fun and activity to patients that are otherwise living in a very confined world.
The cost of construction and shipping a US hospital is around $3,500 and donations from the MUNCH project will be used to install these facilities around the US.
